ROCKINGHAM, North Carolina—It’s all systems go for the meet and greet between Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Miguel G. Romualdez and former and incumbent officials of the Filipino-American Community of the Carolinas Inc. (FACC) in Charlotte, North Carolina this Saturday, March 29.
Incumbent FACC President Marissa Olarte thanked everyone who responded to the invitation for the event while FACC 2nd Vice-President Dr. Louie Anquilo said the two-hour meeting with Ambassador Romualdez will be held at noon at the Ballantyne Hotel.
Data sourced from the embassy’s website stated that Ambassador Romualdez previously served as Special Envoy of former president Rodrigo Duterte to the US.
He was appointed by Duterte as Philippine Ambassador to the US in July 2017. On November 29, 2017 Romualdez presented his credentials to then US President Donald J. Trump and assumed office as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
Ambassador Romualdez was reaappinted in July 2022 by President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. As head of the Philippine Embassy in Washington, DC, Ambassador Romualdez is concurrently the Philippines’ emissary to the Commonwealth of Jamaica, Republic of Haiti; Republic of Trinidad and Tabago, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados; Dominica; Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadives and Saint Lucia.
Ambassador Romualdez has extensive experience as a media practitioner and business executive. He used to be the Chief Executive officer of Stargate Media Corp. and a publisher of People Asia Magazine (A Philippine Star affiliate).
At one time Romualdez was president of the Manila Press Club and writes columns for Philippine Star.
Recalling similar past FACC meetings with Philippine ambassadors, former FACC president Florami Lao C Lee said they were excited to welcome then Ambassador Jose L. Cuisia during her incumbency in 2013.
Cuisa was received at the home of the FACC 2nd vice president Janet Hixon.
The year before in 2012 Ambassador Cuisia was also in the Charlotte area attending the Democratic National Convention.
Cuisa met with representatives of the FACC Charlotte area at the home of Drs. Rudy and Jacky Ganzon.
